What are the class sizes?

Our class sizes are kept small (maximum 10) to ensure personalised attention and a supportive learning environment. In many cases, elective subject classes are 2-4 students per class, while core and popular subjects will be 5-10 students in a class.

What subjects do you offer?

We currently offer English, Afrikaans, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, business studies and art. Please [click here] to visit our academic page for detailed information.

Where a student is carrying a subject such as Spanish or Computer Science from their previous school, online tutoring can be accommodated in private tutoring rooms on the premises. These lessons are however contracted directly with the relevant tutors and are not part of our Evolve Academy offering.

Do you use technology?

Yes, but with specific guidelines. Phones are prohibited at school. Please see our phone policy <link>. Laptops are required and used for educational purposes like research, presentations, and certain class activities. We focus on in-person teaching, limiting online access to focused academic tasks.

What does your typical day look like?

Our school day begins at 7:30 AM with drop-off. We start the day with sport twice a week, and on other days, students spend time with their homeroom teacher / mentor for life skills, community conversations, and support. Each day includes eight lessons, with breaks for snacks, stretching, and lunch. There is Drama every Tuesday and Outreach every Thursday for all students. Monday, Wednesday and Friday are optional student-led extra-mural activities.

How do lunches work?

We serve a freshly prepared, sit-down community meal each day, which is included in the school fees. Students choose from two options, and we cater to most dietary needs. This meal-time provides an opportunity for connection, sharing, and learning among students and teachers.

How long are the breaks?
  • Snack break: 20 minutes
  • Stretch break: 5 minutes
  • Lunch break: 1 hour
What about sport?

We offer ball skills and movement sessions twice a week. Students can also participate in squash as an extra mural. Outside of school, many of our students engage in activities like bouldering, surfing and scouts together. Some participate in dancing, tennis, squash and synchronized swimming, while others take part in club team sports such as soccer and volleyball.

What qualifications do your teachers have?

We have highly qualified subject specialists, many with extensive experience in the Cambridge curriculum.

How will my child adjust from a Montessori environment?

Many of our students (not all) come from a Montessori background. While transitioning to a more structured environment can be daunting, our small class sizes and personalised approach allow students to thrive. We support them as they progress at their own pace through lower secondary and prepare for the IGCSE program. We value the individuality and spirit of Montessori students who contribute positively to our school culture.

What extra-murals are on offer?

Our extra-murals are student-led, supported by a teacher or coach. Depending on the students’ interests the following have been offered:

  • Eco-club
  • Book club
  • Peer-study / homework club
  • Baking & cooking club
  • Shakespeare club
  • Pilates
  • Coding and robotics
What does Outreach involve?

We encourage kindness, generosity, and a deep awareness of the world around us. Our students engage in a variety of outreach projects, both as a group and individually. Every Thursday after school, we dedicate time to Outreach activities where students participate in community service, support local organisations, or work on projects that matter to them. These experiences develop empathy, leadership, and a sense of responsibility towards others.

As a school, we support Learning in Reach, an organisation committed to training and supporting teachers to deliver quality early childhood education and extending access to children who can’t afford to attend ECD centres.

We subsidise students in our own community, ensuring diversity in and accessibility to our school and are currently developing our scholarship program to launch 2026.

What about music, drama, and culture?

On Tuesday afternoons, we encourage all students to participate in drama, with annual involvement in the Shakespeare Schools Festival. Art is a core subject for lower secondary students and can be chosen as an elective from IGCSE level. Extra-mural art is also available for students who have not chosen art as a subject but wish to continue this avenue of expression. We currently offer guitar lessons on a Monday and Friday morning and the piano is often used for practice by students who have private lessons outside of school. We aim to include more music options by 2026.

My child is weak in Maths / Afrikaans. What do you do about it?

Our small classes and supportive environment allow us to work closely with students, helping them to improve in subjects where they may struggle, while avoiding overwhelm and anxiety.

What are your fees?

Please [click here] to view our fees page. Note that our fees are over 10 months (not 12), leaving November and December budget for your end of year responsibilities. Our fees also include a daily cooked meal, drama, outreach and most extra-mural activities.

What you will still need to budget for is textbooks (link to list), stationery (link to list) and school camps. However we try to keep these requirements reasonable and affordable.
